What is depression?
We all go through ups and downs and that is perfectly normal. Sadness is a normal reaction to life’s struggles, setbacks, and disappointments. Many people use the word “depression” to explain these kinds of feelings, but depression is much more than just sadness.
Some people describe depression as having an impending doom or feeling as if they live in a “black hole”. They might feel empty, lifeless, or apathetic. Others feel angry, aggressive, and restless.
Whatever the symptoms, depression is different from normal sadness in that it engulfs your day-to-day life, interfering with your ability to work, study, eat, sleep, and have fun. The feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and worthlessness are intense and unrelenting, with little, if any, relief.
What is too much anxiety?
We all feel stress at times due to our busy lives at home, work, and school. If you are feeling nervous, shaky, worrying daily, having a lot of muscle tension, panic attacks, sleep problems, and fatigue, you probably are suffering from too much anxiety. I use DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), cognitive therapy, and/or mindfulness (similar to relaxation exercises) to help get rid of excessive anxiety. Sometimes depression and anxiety occur together. Both can be treated with DBT, cognitive therapy, and/or mindfulness treatment. Please don’t accept feeling depressed anymore. Give me a call at 443-538-1247 with any questions and to set up an appointment.

If you are feelings of depression due to current stressors we will set goals to get you back to your true self.
